Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers Kansas City Concert reviews
A night with one of the legends of the music !
Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers was in fine form Saturday night, a real American treasure.
He is unique in that he can still tear it up on his Strat with the younger guys when he wants to, but also knows when a good story adds more to the experience than another fast riff up and down the fretboard. His band includes guys who will likely be headliners of the future, if they choose to be, and they add to the overall experience.
The best news of the night is that he appears to be in very good health with plenty of lead still in the pencil. Hearing a guy who actually knew Muddy Waters cover Hoochie Coochie Man convincingly was really cool, and he also did dead-perfect covers of John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, and others effortlessly.
He is arguably the last man standing of those old enough to have personally known the men who created what we know as the Blues, and his ability to relate some of that to a modern audience was well worth the price of admission. We will likely get the chance to opportunity to see him again for several more years if he chooses to stay at it that long.
